SV Werder Bremen and Christian Groß are continuing their journey together. The Bundesliga club announced on Monday afternoon that Groß will extend his expiring contract with the Green-Whites until the 30th June 2024. The 33-year-old spoke in an interview with WERDER.DE about his decision to add another year to his contract, his role in the team and what he still wants to achieve.

While his teammates enjoyed a day off training, Maximilian Philipp was working on the training pitch along with Manuel Mbom and Romano Schmid. Johannes Jahns will join SV Werder Bremen from FC Red Bull Salzburg to become the club’s squad planner for next season. The Bremen native has most recently been working as Salzburg’s sporting coordinator after previously holding the title of Head of Transfer Management there. Jahns will become responsible for scouting, squad planning and recruitment from next season at SVW.

The Werder Bremen’s supervisory board have made a decision for the future, with the board and Klaus Filbry, the CEO of SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA, agreeing to an early two year extension to his contract, which was running out on 30th June 2024, meaning it will now run until 30th June 2026.

After a total of eleven years, SV Werder Bremen’s main and shirt sponsorship with the PHW Group and their brands WIESENHOF and GREEN LEGEND will end. The company will stay one of SVW’s top partners.

Building contractor Matthäi will become the new main and shirt sponsor of SV Werder Bremen, as of the 2023/24 season. The new agreement is a further deepening of ties between the two parties, with Matthäi having previously been one of the club’s TOP partners. The new sponsorship agreement will run until 2025/26.
