Striving for victory on the road

On Saturday, 27th April (15:30 CEST), SV Werder Bremen will make a trip to the south to take on FC Augsburg at the WWK ARENA. FCA have accumulated enough points to secure their place in next season’s Bundesliga, and with a spot in European football still very much on the cards, the side will be all fired up from the second the ball starts rolling on Saturday afternoon.

The Green-Whites are now seven points clear of the relegation zone, and are sat in a comfortable 11th place ahead of the final few fixtures in the current campaign. Despite this, Ole Werner was hesitant to discuss his side’s survival in the pre-match press conference prior to the meeting with FC Augsburg on Saturday, 27th April (15:30 CEST), arguing that: “We know exactly where we stand in terms of our position in the table and the fact that we still need to pick up more points.”

At 32 years old, Anthony Jung is one of the most experienced players in SVW’s current squad, and the defender has showed that he’s still got a lot to give over the course of this season. Jung has found himself playing in a new role after shifting from a full-back to central defence. He’s thrived in the new position so far, having racked up over 2,000 minutes in the Green-Whites’ backline this campaign.
