After Anthony Jung signed his new contract, he gave an interview for WERDER.DE. The 31-year-old revealed that the day of signing is still special, despite his experience in doing so. Jung also spoke about the reasons for his extension, his time up to now at the Green-Whites and his role as an older player in the squad.

Head coach Ole Werner answered questions at the pre-match press conference on how SVW can win the match, who is particularly important in the squad and how much a lack of courage contributed to the latest results.

The deal is done: defender Anthony Jung has extended his contract at Werder Bremen. Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and profession football at SVW, revealed the news on Thursday morning.

It must be said that there is little joy in the fact that Werder have lost their last four games in the league. At the start of the season, however, many fans would have probably settled for 21 points after 17 games. After the 2-1 defeat to FC Union on Wednesday, Ole Werner discussed his side’s first half of the season. “We know what we are playing for. Although SVW are coming up against a strong team, Ole Werner is still confident ahead of the game: “Every team has things in their style of play that you can exploit. Werder deserved their lead largely due to winning their challenges and their bold style of play. In the second half, the fast pace continued and both teams wanted the next goal. In the end it was Füllkrug again who scored the second goal that would be enough for Werder to be victorious. The final minutes were incredibly tense again, in which Paredes made it 2-1 (90’). After ten minutes of additional time, the job was done.

The final whistle brought great relief, and after four defeats in a row, SV Werder Bremen recorded their first win in 2023 with the 2-1 victory against VfL Wolfsburg. The mood was captured by reporters after the game, when the elated Werder players wanted to focus above all on the team performance.

SV Werder Bremen have agreed a loan deal with VfL Wolfsburg for Maximilian Philipp. The 28-year-old attacker joins the Green-Whites until the end of the season, subject to a medical examination. In addition, Oliver Burke is about to complete a loan move to another club, also dependent on a medical.

The transfer is now over the line. Werder Bremen have completed the loan signing of Maximilian Philipp shortly before the transfer window closes. The attacker has joined SVW on loan from Wolfsburg until the end of the season, after an agreement was found with the player and the Wolves.
