Borussia Dortmund are paying a visit to the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Saturday for matchday 20 of the Bundesliga season. The gaffer is expecting a tough test against a side that are “currently showing their quality on the pitch.”

After a total of eleven years, SV Werder Bremen’s main and shirt sponsorship with the PHW Group and their brands WIESENHOF and GREEN LEGEND will end. The company will stay one of SVW’s top partners.

Building contractor Matthäi will become the new main and shirt sponsor of SV Werder Bremen, as of the 2023/24 season. The new agreement is a further deepening of ties between the two parties, with Matthäi having previously been one of the club’s TOP partners. The new sponsorship agreement will run until 2025/26.

Eighth will host third in the Bundesliga this Saturday (11.2.23 at 15:30 CET) at the wohninvest WESERSTADION. Ole Werner stressed at the pre-match press conference that it will be a really tough game against a top team. “They are in the top four and are in the title race now too. They have started 2023 really well and have won all their games since the winter break,” said Werder’s head coach on Dortmund. “We know we will need a really good performance to get something from this game.”

Werder Bremen were beaten 2-0 at home by Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon. The first period belonged to the visitors, Dortmund created pressure early and forced Werder to be alert at the back. After 20 minutes, SVW had their first good chance coming from Weiser and Füllkrug. Both sides had good chances, and both Kobel and Pavlenka were called into action several times, but the well-contested first half ended 0-0. In the second half, the substitute Bynoe-Gittens (67’) put the visitors ahead, before Brandt (84’) doubled their lead to 2-0. A balanced game, in which Werder’s keeper Pavlenka stood out for his outstanding performance, ended in a victory to Dortmund.

After a fighting performance, SVW ultimately lost 2-0 against Borussia Dortmund. For head coach Ole Werner, it was a game with “good and bad phases” for his team. Here are the reactions after the game:

SV Werder Bremen will be without Mitchell Weiser against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (18/2). The winger picked up an injury against Borussia Dortmund last weekend, and an MRI from team doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis on Monday has since revealed that he suffered ligament damage in his ankle.
