Having signed off for the international break with a 3-1 win at Bochum on Saturday, 12 members of the Wolves’ squad had to pack their bags and head off to their national teams. Werder suffer narrow defeat to SC Freiburg

SV Werder Bremen fell short of securing their first home win of the campaign on Saturday afternoon after suffering a 1-0 defeat to SC Freiburg. Despite creating a number of promising chances such as a volley effort from Agu early on (17’), the Green-Whites were unable to get the ball over the line against a strong visiting side. Ritsu Doan put the game to bed for Freiburg in the 75th minute, rubbing salt in the wound of head coach Ole Werner’s side, who have so far been unable to find the back of the net in any of their three home games this season.
