Sebastian Hoeneß previews the Bundesliga opener at SC Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.

The first international break of the season will see SV Werder Bremen play a friendly against SC Preußen Münster. The match will take place on Thursday, 5th September at 18:00 CEST at the Preußenstadion.

Thomas Tuchel is very much a fan of Rabiot and has experience working with the player during his tenure as manager of Paris Saint-Germain, which stretched from 2018-2020 before he took over at Chelsea FC. For a brief period, Rabiot was suspended from playing by PSG for some of his off-pitch behavior following a Champions League loss to Manchester United at the Parc des Princes. Prior to the suspension, Rabiot had been out of favor at the club and had little to no playing time, but Tuchel insists he personally had nothing to do with the suspension decision and that it came from the club’s higher ups.

Based off Stuttgart’s performance, Schuster stressed that his team will need to bring their A-game on Saturday: “I had hoped that we wouldn’t face this stern of a test on the first matchday. The level in the Supercup was extremely high. VfB proved that last season was no fluke. We’re looking forward to measuring up to them. We’re more than happy to take on this challenge.”

“Our first goal has been achieved, and now comes the second. It’s important to start the season off strong,” Thorup said during the pre-match press conference, referring to FCA’s 4-1 win against Viktoria Berlin in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. “We kept trying to control the game, which we managed to do. In the end, we deservedly won. If we manage to keep playing like that in the league, then that would be ideal.”
