Over the last several days, a delegation from the City of Bremen, along with representatives from politics, business, sports, and other sectors, has been visiting South Africa. SV Werder Bremen was also part of the trip, which included visits to numerous social institutions, most recently the Hout Bay United Football Community and a Safe-Hub run by AMANDLA. Werder also represented the Bundesliga during the trip.

VfB Stuttgart drew 1-1 with Sparta Praha in the club’s first home game of the current UEFA Champions League season.

In the second half of last season, winter signing Julian Malatini had a debut to remember as he came on in the closing stages of the home game against SC Freiburg and then scored his first Bundesliga goal after just two minutes on the pitch. Malatini then marked his first start of this season with a goal last time out at Hoffenheim. Speaking to the press on Wednesday, the Argentine defender looked back on the win in Sinsheim and discussed Werder’s upcoming opponents.

Due to the expected number of spectators at the stadium and the high volume of traffic, TSG Hoffenheim recommend travelling early and using public transport. Additional buses will be running to the PreZero Arena on Sunday. A shuttle service, which will run every 15 minutes, will take visitors from Sinsheim/Elsenz railway station (from the bus stop on the side facing the railway tracks) to the stadium (Sinsheim-Süd industrial estate, opposite AVR) and back again. But it was not solely thanks to titles and results that Dynamo made headlines in this period. Lobanovskyi is regarded by many experts and football historians as the founder of the back four – a tactical set-up that has changed football forever.
