Moyes told what ‘will get you sacked’ as West Ham boss chastised after players ‘just stand there’

Ben Foster has chastised David Moyes for allowing West Ham to “just stand there” as he pointed out the “little details” that “will get you sacked”.

The last couple of seasons saw the Hammers soar to rarely seen heights. Indeed, in 2020/21, they finished sixth in the Premier League, and followed that up by finishing seventh, along with reaching the semi-final of the Europa League.

This season, then, has been very poor. After reaching those heights, they’ve crashed down, and are currently in 17th, on the same points as 18th-placed Bournemouth.

Sack talk has ramped up, as the Hammers have won just twice in the league this year. The manager reportedly despite their poor run.

However, a lot of people involved with the club will remain frustrated unless there’s a turnaround.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Foster feels there are some elements of the club’s performance which are far too negative for the manager to get away with.

“Obviously there’s a lot of unrest at West Ham at the minute and there’s a lot of talk about David Moyes and his future,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“These are the little details which will get you sacked. When you listen to that, and Emi Martinez had the ball at his feet for two minutes in the first half [of the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa], that will get you sacked.

“The fans are there, 60,000 of them turn up, and they’re watching their team just sit and stand there. Especially at home.”

Indeed, Foster clearly feels the Hammers should be doing their all to win games to escape their plight, not simply trying not to lose.

He added he felt against 11th-placed Aston Villa, more positivity was needed, given the Hammers weren’t up against a massively dangerous side.

“You’re not playing Man City, you’re not playing Man United or Arsenal. You’re playing against Aston Villa,” he added.

It’s fair to think West Ham should be doing more. It does seem that Moyes is playing overly cautious football instead of attempting to drag his side away from relegation danger.

It remains to be seen how long Moyes will last. However, if West Ham’s poor run continues, surely the club can’t keep faith with him for too long.
