Man Utd should try and sign Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae to replace “fragile” Raphael Varane in the starting XI, according to Paul Parker.

The Red Devils’ defence has improved this season under Ten Hag with Man Utd conceding 37 goals in the Premier League, seven of which were in one match against Liverpool.

Man Utd, , still have 11 more matches to play this campaign but that’s 20 fewer than the Red Devils conceded in 2021/22.

Despite a feeling that they have improved defensively, there are rumours Ten Hag will still look to bring in a new right-back and possibly a new centre-back in the summer.

And Napoli centre-back Kim is reportedly towards the top of Ten Hag’s summer shopping list although a report on Sunday said that his entourage had now .

It looks like Harry Maguire will possibly leave Man Utd in the summer transfer window and former Red Devils full-back Parker reckons Kim would be the perfect player to compete with, or even oust, Varane from the starting XI at Old Trafford.

Parker told Kelbet: “Kim Min-Jae  has done excellent for Napoli this season and I would love to see him at Man United. Raphael Varane can be a bit fragile sometimes so it would be good with a new player who can compete with him.

“And then Kim Min-Jae has to earn his spot in the starting eleven. If he is willing to come here and fight for a spot that is not guaranteed, that would be amazing.”

Kim is from South Korea and Parker reckons it would be a “very good PR signing” for Man Utd because of the Premier League’s popularity in east Asia.

Parker added: “Kim Min-Jae would also be a very good PR signing. Just like Mitoma, who is from Japan, the same applies for a South Korean player. It would be a massive story if a player like him came to Man United.

“Of course, Man United would have to say goodbye to Victor Lindelof as he will have a very tough time with getting games in the future if Kim Min-Jae arrives.

“And of course, Harry Maguire needs to move on. Gareth Southgate can’t keep picking him if he doesn´t play. For his own sake he also needs to move on if he wants to be seen as an ambitious player. It´s unambitious to sit on the bench.”
