Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to sell Reds midfielder Thiago Alcantara in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Spain international moved to Anfield from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 2020 for around £25m with many praising Liverpool for an impressive bit of transfer business.

And Thiago has largely been a success for Liverpool with the Spaniard helping the club come close to an unprecedented Quadruple last season, although they eventually had to settle for just the League Cup and FA Cup trophies.

His quality has rarely been doubted at Anfield with the Spaniard showing glimpses of the reason he’s spent most of his career on the books at Barcelona and Bayern Munich before moving to Liverpool.

But it’s his unavailability that has proved frustrating for Klopp and Liverpool fans with Thiago only starting 51 Premier League matches over the last three seasons.

with the Spaniard hit by injuries once again.

A hip injury kept Thiago out from early February to the beginning of this month with the midfielder making his return in .

And now Spanish publication Nacional claims that Klopp has had enough of his injury problems and ‘doesn’t want him at Liverpool’.

It is understood that Klopp was earmarked the 32-year-old for a ‘possible sale’ this summer and he could make a ‘hasty exit due to injuries’.

Klopp is keen to give Stefan Bajcetic more opportunities next season despite the likelihood that he brings in a couple of new midfielders in the summer transfer window and Thiago could no longer have ‘a clear place in the team’.

Liverpool ‘could choose to seek an express sale in order to avoid lose it at zero cost’ with Thiago entering the final year of his contract next season.

There have been rumours that he could be on his way back to Barcelona in the summer but Nacional add that Xavi doesn’t want him either with the manager ‘ruling out his arrival’ to ‘avoid having to deal with his constant physical problems’.

Klopp still sees Thiago as important to his plans this season with the Liverpool boss upbeat about having him ready for selection again.

“Thiago is a candidate for starting and if we start Luis probably people will tell me, ‘30 minutes’ and stuff like this and then we cannot start him [because] we have to make the first change a bit early.

“So, that’s different but no, [it’s] top – he can demand rhythm, how we all know, and when he is fresh he is a top, top, top player and that’s why we are really happy to have him back and in training so far it looks all good.”
