The Foals start the new training week without Elvedi and Thuram

On Tuesday afternoon, Borussia began their preparations for the Bundesliga away match against BVB on Saturday evening (18:30 CEST). Alongside Marcus Thuram, Nico Elvedi was also missing after picking up a knock on his ankle against Bochum.

Borussia will travel to BVB on Saturday evening (18:30 CEST) for the “Top-Spiel” of matchday 32. “There is nothing better: Saturday evening, Top-Spiel, floodlights, more than 80,000 fans made up of a lot of Gladbach supporters, but of course it’s also one of the most demanding tasks in German football at the moment to play away at Dortmund. We are looking forward to it,” said head coach Daniel Farke. The Foals began their preparations for the match this Tuesday afternoon with a 90-minute session on the training pitch at BORUSSIA-PARK.

Marcus Thuram was still not involved due to an adductor strain and continued to work individually. “It will be tight whether Tikus can play at the weekend. To be there in Dortmund, he would have to be back on Thursday at the latest,” said Farke. “There is still some hope, but it probably isn’t realistic.” The head coach was also without Nico Elvedi at the start of training. “Nico got a knock on his ankle in the game against Bochum. There was still some swelling today, so we didn’t want to take the risk. We will have to wait and see, but I’m very hopeful that he will be available at the weekend,” stressed Farke.

Alassane Plea will definitely be missing for the game against BVB. He picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the recent home win against VfL Bochum (2-0) and will therefore be suspended.

Rocco Reitz, meanwhile, has returned to Mönchengladbach after his loan spell at VV St. Truiden and is fully involved in the Foals’ training. “Since the season in Belgium is already over, he has come back for training. To send him away for the summer break now would be too early,” said Farke. “Rocco is a top guy who we like to have in training. He always gives all his energy and benefits us. Unfortunately, he will not be an option for the games.”

Ahead of the next match in Dortmund, Borussia have four more training sessions on the agenda, with the sessions on Wednesday and Thursday open to the public.

Rocco Reitz has returned from his loan spell in Belgium and is back training with the team.
