Our favourite is going nowehere: Cristian Gamboa has agreed with VfL Bochum 1848 to extend his contract until June 30, 2024. The Costa Rican international has been an integral part of the Bochum defence since 2019 and has played 85 competitive games for VfL so far.
“There are combinations that are a perfect fit from the first moment. Cristian Gamboa’s and his affinity to VfL is one of those,” said Sebastian Schindzielorz, Director of Sport at VfL Bochum 1848. “Gambo fits VfL, VfL fits him. He has managed to endear himself to the team, staff and fans alike through his tireless efforts, professional attitude and absolutely positive charisma. We are delighted that he has decided to continue at VfL.”
The feeling’s mutual: “VfL and Bochum hold a special place in my life. VfL is the club for which I have played the most professional games. Our daughter was born in Germany. I got the chance to move up to the Bundesliga here and play in the best league in a country for the fifth time in my career. But that’s not all. We want to play a good role again next season and give our fans reasons to celebrate. We have to fight for that.”
