TSG to play Norwich City

Norwich City only just missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last season. The club from the east of England were edged out by Leeds United (0-0, 4-0) in the play-offs – with a goal from former Hoffenheim player Georginio Rutter – and the German-American coach David Wagner was subsequently sacked. Now the “Canaries”, as the club is known because of their yellow and green colours, are making a new attempt to get back into the Premier League under the stewardship of 35-year-old Danish coach Johannes Thorup.

FCA sign striker Steve Mounié

Mounié joins the Fuggerstädter after scoring 44 goals and providing 11 assists in 162 Ligue 1 games. The physical forward also featured for English side Huddersfield Town from 2017 to 2020, making 59 appearances in the Premier League. Last season, the 29-year-old scored six goals as he helped Brest to qualification for the Champions League. Mounié is also currently captain of the Benin national side, for whom he has scored 17 goals in 53 caps.

Janez was born in Ljubljana and came through the youth ranks of ZNK Krim. She won the national championship with the club’s U-17s in both 2020 and 2021 and was crowned top scorer in the youth league in 2020/21. The attacking player made her debut at 16 for the club’s first team, scoring five goals in eight games, making her first appearance for the Slovenian national team just a few months later, in December 2020. Janez moved to league rivals ZNK Radomlje for the 2021/22 season. After a year in which she scored 15 goals in 20 games, second-division club RasenBallsport Leipzig signed the Slovenian in the summer of 2022.

Werder to play friendly against Sheffield Wednesday in Zillertal

The first friendly match of Werder’s training camp in Zillertal has been confirmed. The Green-Whites will take on English second-tier side Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, 26th July. The game against the four-time English champions will kick off at 14:00 CEST at the Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller.

FCA players begin pre-season with performance tests

Before training officially gets underway on Monday, 8th July, the FCA players were put through their paces. New arrivals Nediljko Labrović, Samuel Essende, Keven Schlotterbeck, Yusuf Kabadayi and Steve Mounié were all present at the WWK Arena. The performance tests will take place over the span of three days, as each player is allocated an individual session.
