SV Werder Bremen opened the 2024/25 Bundesliga season with a 2-2 draw at FC Augsburg. After first taking the lead, the Green-Whites were then pegged back and trailed at the break, before netting a deserved equaliser in the second half. WERDER.DE spoke to head coach Ole Werner and several players about the result.
Elvis Rexhbecaj: “Both teams wanted to attack. That wasn’t easy, particularly in these conditions. Of course we wanted to score the first goal, but it’s also important to be able to come back. I was obviously really pleased that my shot went in and then Samuel added another straight away. We’re disappointed that we couldn’t take all three points. We were on top and there were two controversial moments that didn’t go our way. Now, we need to look back on the game and keep our intensity high, so we can go at it again next week and iron out any mistakes.”
Dortmund came back from two goals down, but drew 2-2, giving the title to Bayern, all thanks to Jamal Musiala’s late, late winner at the RheinEnergieStadion after coming on as a substitute in what was Thomas Tuchel’s attacking role of the dice to find a winner.
The visitors were awarded the first corner of the game after just 42 seconds. Former Freiburg man Pascal Stenzel’s ball-in landed at the feet of Enzo Millot, who couldn’t quite find the net, but another former SC player was there for the follow-up. Ermedin Demirović executed a scissor kick which beat Florian Müller in the SC goal. “We didn’t start well. That wasn’t what we’d planned,” said Julian Schuster after the game.
Tickets, shirts, vouchers and much more: the TSG Bundesliga Tippspiel game is well worth playing. There are prizes to be won for the best predictor of a matchday, the first half of the season and the overall winner. The champion tipster after 34 matchdays can also look forward to two season tickets for the 2025/26 season, but a matchday winner will also receive a home shirt signed by the team.
Kevin Kampl, Antonio Nusa, Xavi and Marco Rose spoke after the 1-0 win against VfL Bochum
Despite taking the lead, VfB Stuttgart slipped to a 3-1 defeat at SC Freiburg in their 2024/25 Bundesliga opener.
During his time in Berlin-Köpenick, the 28-year-old attacker made seven Bundesliga appearances, scoring one competitive goal in a Union shirt. Bedia made his debut for Union on 24 January this year, coming on as a 78th-minute substitute for Janik Haberer in the 1-0 defeat to FC Bayern München on matchday 13.
Members of the Werder and footballing community, along with relatives and friends, gathered at the Bremen Cathedral on Friday to remember Wilfried ‘Willi’ Lemke. Amongst those in attendance were those that knew Lemke from his many years as the sporting director and chairman of the supervisory board at SV Werder Bremen, as well as politicians and public figures from the city of Bremen and from around Germany as well.
They explain that Pavard could be set to wear the Bayern Munich shirt for the last time in this weekend’s clash with Köln, with him starting to think about his future at the club.
