Andrej Kramarić is currently in his 10th season as a TSG Hoffenheim player – and it will be a very special one: The club have marked their 125th birthday by qualifying for European competition for the fourth time in their history. The attacking player is particularly looking forward to the international challenges, as the Croat revealed to TSG podcast “Ein Dorf ist die Welt”. “We worked hard every day last season to achieve this. It is always something special to play in Europe,” said Kramarić a matter of days prior to the opening match of the UEFA Europa League campaign away to Midtjylland (Wednesday at 21:00 CEST, live on RTL). “We have difficult opponents, it’s not going to be easy. But I’m extremely looking forward to it. I like the evening games under the floodlights. They have a special feeling of their own.

In the 89th minute, however, Bayern worked the ball back to the edge of the opponents’ box, where Jamal Musiala received the ball. His first touch was immaculate, even his by his own lofty standards, defying logic to completely stop the ball with just a small touch of his foot. His next touch pushed the ball past his marker, into some open space at the top of the box. Musiala raced onto it, took a split second to measure the shot, then pulled the trigger. And the stadium erupted into cheers as the ball nestled in the back of the net.
Pavel Kadeřábek is among TSG’s longest-serving players. The Czech has been in Hoffenheim since the summer of 2015 and has experienced in a lot in the intervening nine years. After an eventful summer, the 32-year-old is calling for understanding with the new-look team: “It will certainly take a while until everyone is integrated; you simply need time on the pitch for that and a little patience in the changing room. It’s a big challenge as you actually never have time in football. We all stay calm and focused together. I’m sure that we’ll play better football and pick up better results. We all want that.”

When you’ve won three different trophies — the Bundesliga’s Meisterschale, the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup — in the space of just a few frenetic months, why not display them from the spectacular Manhattan skyline as part of a specially arranged trophy tour in a bid to attract new fans? Club owner Bayer’s consumer health headquarters also happen to be located across the Hudson in New Jersey, so the trip ticked many boxes.
