The footballing heavyweight from Glasgow can look back on an impressive collection of titles, 55 national league titles means that Rangers still have one more than the 54 won by arch rivals Celtic. Despite this, the current Scottish runners-up have had to wait three years since their last title.
Samuel Emmanuel Essende Mbongu was born on 30th January 1998 in the Paris suburb of Montfermeil. Essende joined the youth academy of Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 12, and spent his entire youth career with the 12-time French champions. The 1.92 metre-tall forward made his senior debut for Belgian top-tier side KAS Eupen, and also appeared for French clubs US Avranches, Pau FC and SM Caen.

The club from the town of 30,000 inhabitants only suffered one defeat in league play, when they lost 3-1 to Holstein Kiel on the penultimate matchday. They were also surprisingly defeated in the final of the Schleswig-Holstein Cup by Oberliga club Kieler MTV on penalties.
