Real Madrid plotting ambitious Chelsea raid as Perez sets his sights on four Blues stars

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering signing as many as four Chelsea players this summer as he looks to bolster his squad, according to reports.

The Blues host the Spanish giants in the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, as Frank Lampard’s team aim to turn over a two-goal deficit.

Madrid have brought in several ex-Chelsea stars in the past, such as Eden Hazard and Antonio Rudiger, with Perez aiming to repeat that in the coming months.

Indeed, according to reports coming out of Spain, Los Blancos are ‘ready’ to make a fresh bid for Reece James, but are also interested in three other Chelsea stars.

Perez is also thought to be an admirer of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and ex-Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic – so he could potentially make offers for them, too.

It is believed that Chelsea are planning to offload several players this summer as club co-owner Todd Boehly looks to balance the books after spending record sums this season.

The American billionaire recently after their 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Saturday, showing just how bizarre the situation at Chelsea has become.

Mount looks almost guaranteed to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after rejecting a new contract, but Madrid will face competition from Liverpool for his signature.

Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, is under contract with the Blues until 2024, but after struggling for consistent minutes this term, he could look to move elsewhere.

It is noted that Perez allegedly views the duo as ‘rotational players’ and wouldn’t go straight into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI.

However, that is not the case for Kovacic, with the Madrid president keen to bring him back to the Bernabeu to replace Luka Modric, who could retire at the end of the season.

Ultimately, though, the future of all players could depend on who Chelsea appoint as their new permanent manager and whether or not they want to keep hold of the quartet.

Lampard is set to remain in post until the end of this term.

Chelsea will probably need to sell at least some of their prized assets to avoid infringing the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play regulations, though, so Madrid could indeed have a chance of signing all four this summer.
