Avram and Joel Glazer are reportedly ‘increasingly confident of securing the outside investment’ needed to see them remain at Man Utd for another ten years.

The Glazer family announced back in November that they would “evaluate all options” to secure new investment and that a full sale was on the cards.

There have since been two rounds of bidding involving interested parties.

Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim and INEOS’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been considered among the frontrunners if a full sale is finalised.

But it has also been feared that the current owners could look to sell a minority stake in Man Utd and use the added funds to modernise Old Trafford and the club’s Carrington training ground.

The latter scenario is now more likely, according to ESPN. Their report states.

‘Brothers Joel and Avram – United’s co-chairmen – favour new investment that will enable them to remain in charge at Old Trafford, with siblings and fellow directors Kevin, Bryan and Edward Glazer and Darcie Glazer Kassewitz offloading their stakes in the club.

‘Joel and Avram Glazer believe that the potential for organic growth over the years ahead could make United worth at least £10 billion ($12.4 bn).

‘With areas of growth anticipated in terms of broadcast revenue, streaming opportunities and a possible restructuring of the club game, there is a view within the United hierarchy that the club can become much more valuable with the required investment on and off the pitch.

‘And with at least four hugely wealthy investment funds prepared to acquire a stake that would see them become minority shareholders, Joel and Avram Glazer have the opportunity to remain as owners.’

This news will not be welcomed by club legend Gary Neville,

Neville recently claimed that if a full sale is pursued, the new owners would “want to make a statement” in the transfer market.

“I feel like Ten Hag is not going to sign [marquee names]. If new owners come in they’re going to want to make a statement, they’ll want to blow the transfer market open. I don’t think that will suit him,” Neville said on The Overlap.

“I think he’ll want those younger, hungrier ones that have still got that growth rather than the finished article. Casemiro obviously defeats that a little bit, but you look at Antony and Lisandro Martinez : they’re younger and hungrier. I think that’s the type of player he’ll want to add to this squad rather than saying, ‘Oh, Kylian Mbappe’s available or so-and-so is available’.”

Speaking on the possibility of Man Utd signing Harry Kane, Neville added: “You know something, I’ve worked with him [Kane] and you watch him. He will score 30 goals, he will get 10-15 assists, and that is an absolute fact.
