VfL Wolfsburg will be looking to extend their five-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga when they travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Easter Sunday (kick-off 15:30 CEST). At Friday’s pre-match press conference, Wolves head coach Niko Kovac spoke about…

…the final stretch of the campaign: “It’s not getting any easier. Against Gladbach, who remain in close proximity [in the standings], we have an opportunity to secure a top-nine finish once and for all and start looking up the table with a win. We’re in positive spirits. We’re unbeaten in five games and I’d be happy for things to continue in that vein this weekend.”

…Gladbach’s unsettled season: “In general, I believe Gladbach are a really good side with a good coach who has gained a lot of experience abroad. That’s why I’m not letting myself be fooled by their position in the table and their current form. I know how difficult it is to play against Gladbach, which is why our full focus is on this game. We’ll need to push ourselves to get something there.”

…how the DFB Cup impacts the Bundesliga’s European places: “If seventh place isn’t enough to qualify for Europe, then so be it. We have to finish seventh first – we’re only ninth at the moment and still need to climb two places.”

…personnel: “We’re without two players on five yellow cards, Ridle Baku and Patrick Wimmer. Kilian Fischer was back in training for the first time today. Things are looking very good for him, but we need to wait until tomorrow to see if there’s a reaction or if he can last the entire session. If he does, he’s definitely an option for the squad. Bartol Franjic and Lukas Nmecha haven’t trained yet and Niklas Klinger wasn’t involved either. Everyone else is fit and healthy.”
