Highlights from the first half:

9th minute: Ducksch passes the ball back to Friedl after a blocked cross from Bittencourt, but he misses the ball in the opponent’s penalty area.

13th minute: Bochum are also getting close to Werder’s goal. Osei-Tutu in particular is receiving a lot of balls on the right. So far, however, Pavlenka has not been forced to do too much. Schlotterbeck tries his luck, but doesn’t hit the ball properly and it goes for a Werder goal kick

20th minute: Bittencourt comes down the right-hand side and plays a long ball to Jung, who is storming forward. Osei-Tutu is a few yards ahead of Jung and is able to clear the ball.

26th minute: Stöger ends up with the ball at his feet after a deflection and quickly shoots, but his shot is deflected again by Friedl and lands in Pavlenka’s hands.

29th minute: GOOALLLL! Niclas Füllkrug scores for SVW to make it 1-0! A great ball from Veljkovic is headed on by Jung to Fülle, who slots it home!

40th minute: A Ducksch corner comes off Pieper to Füllkrug, who can only connect with the end of his foot, resulting in the ball going wide of the post.

43rd minute: Niklas Schmidt scores for SVW to make it 2-0! Bittencourt plays to Jung, who picks out Schmidt excellently on the centre-right, and Schmidt doesn’t hesitate to put the ball in the bottom corner.

45th minute: Pavlenka is forced into action for the first real time in the match, but our number one is able to save. Then Kunde is brought down in the penalty area, which leads to a scuffle.

Ducksch shows his skill and scores from a free kick

Highlights from the second half:

48th minute: Ducksch comes in off the left and finds Stage in the penalty area, but he can’t really make use of the ball. It ends up with Bittencourt, who takes a shot into the hands of Riemann.

59th minute: GOAL! Marvin Ducksch makes it 3-0 to SVW! Werder’s number seven converts a free kick right on the edge of the penalty area, putting it in the bottom left corner.

63rd minute: Schmidt dances through the Bochum back line and pulls the trigger, but the ball goes well wide of the goal.

71st minute: After winning the ball, Schmidt picks up the speed and looks for Ducksch just outside the penalty area. A Bochum player manages to get in the way of the pass, however.

72nd minute: Riemann just manages to stop a header from Stage and keeps the ball from going over the line. That was close!

90th+3 minute: Full time! SV Werder Bremen beat VfL Bochum 1848 3-0.

Summary: Werder proved very effective in the first half and went into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead. In the second half, the visitors were more active, but were unable to get a decent shot off. Apart from the tactically impressive goals, the match was relatively uneventful, Werder were rewarded for a solid performance and picked up the victory.
