Head coach Ole Werner: We were certainly very effective in the first half, but on the other hand we allowed them almost nothing. We were very attentive against an opponent who tries to make the game chaotic. We managed to calm the action down and then played well. We were very good at controlling the game.”
Niclas Füllkrug: “It was a tough game for us overall. Until 1-0, the game was open and we gave little away. Then we were able to make decisive passes and create clear-cut chances. We had problems with that in the last game, but when you see how Tony plays the ball into the area and Niklas finishes to make it 2-0, it shows that we were much more on it today.”
Niklas Schmidt: “I think that we were the better team. We knew that we would have to defend a lot of long balls and we dealt with them well. We found spaces well and played with courage today. We are very happy about the victory, but we take it from one game to the next. Today we can be happy, then it’s on to Augsburg next week.”
Leonardo Bittencourt: “We have the same goals as the teams below us. That’s why opponents like Bochum are the teams we have to beat. I didn’t see much from them over the 90 minutes. We played in a very mature way right to the end. The more the game went on, the better we became and we deserved to win.”
Anthony Jung: “It was the game we expected, it was very hectic, and we had to work very hard to stay solid. We managed to do that. Of course, we were not bursting with confidence after the last two games and we wanted to show a different side today. We manage to do that with a lot of fight and that’s what put us on the winning side.”
