Every year, the Berlin Football Association (BFV) asks the public to decide the very best from 32 nominations and eight categories.
In this year’s category of men’s footballer of the year, Union have taken a clean sweep. Grischa Prömel received the highest number of votes following an outstanding 2021/22 season in Köpenick. The 27-year-old midfielder brought his five-year stint in Köpenick to a close this summer, signing for Hoffenheim.
An Union player took the positions from two to four in the same category. Captain Christopher Trimmel, striker Taiwo Awoniyi and defender Robin Knoche make up Berlin’s top four footballers.
Winners of the other categories will be confirmed on Monday July 27.
