VfB began the game on the front foot and stormed into a fully deserved 3-0 lead before the break courtesy of goals from Matthaios Tsigkas (9’), Eliot Bujupi (20’ pen) and Benjamin Boakye (42’). They also enjoyed a numerical advantage from the 36th minute, when Atalanta goalkeeper Piotr Pardel received a red card.
The visitors reduced the deficit through Mattia Arrigoni in the 56th minute before Eliot Bujupi made it 4-1 to VfB.
