Sebastian Hoeneß, VfB head coach: “We didn’t play well today, Leverkusen were the better team. We’ve kept a clean sheet in a very tough away game for the second time in a little over a week. We’ve got a few things we need to analyse but we also want evaluate the game in the right way. We held on to the point with everything we had – in particular thanks to Alex Nübel – and we’re happy that we’re coming home with a draw.”
Alex Nübel: “At the end of the day, we came away with a clean sheet, which is good. But when you consider that this was the fourth time we’ve played here this year, today was definitely our worst performance of the lot. We didn’t start well and although we made some changes at half-time, we didn’t really create more than one or two chances. With that in mind, we can be happy with a point.”
El Bilal: “It was a tough game, as we expected, and we competed well today. I knew what I’d be facing in the opposition with such strong players. Now I’m looking forward to Wednesday and I hope we have another good day.”
