VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß put his players through their paces in an intensive training session at the club centre on Tuesday morning. The mood among the squad was upbeat, but goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow and his team-mates are keeping their feet firmly on the ground. “It’s just a nice feeling,” said Bredlow. “Everyone’s having fun in training, even if the sessions are full-on. We’re not being overconfident, but we’ve made important steps in the right direction. We can build on that.”
“We need to look forward”
The task for VfB now is to maintain the performance levels they have shown in recent weeks. “We showed against Bochum that we can perform in important games – we want to do so again in Augsburg,” Bredlow continued before glancing towards the Mercedes-Benz Arena in the background. “I have very fond memories of what happened there on Saturday afternoon [in the 3-3 draw against Borussia Dortmund], but we need to look forward now. We’ve got an extremely important game coming up in Augsburg which we’ll approach in a motivated and focused manner.”
