“Focused on winning three points”

Genki Haraguchi celebrated his 32^nd birthday on Tuesday, but the following day he was fully focused on the upcoming home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. “I enjoyed the free day with my family and had a nice time,” said the Japanese midfielder, who arrived at the club in January. “Despite being 32 now, I still feel very fit and healthy. We were all very disappointed with the result of our game in Berlin, where we weren’t able to equalise despite being on top for a long time. Now we have to put that match behind us and look forwards.”

A good week of training will be decisive in the build-up to the Leverkusen fixture at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Sunday, as the Werkself have the fourth-best attack in the Bundesliga in 2022/23. “We’re focused and want to pick up three important points,” Haraguchi concluded. “After that hopefully we’ll be in a better position.”
