He may only be 18 years old, but Dennis Seimen is already in his tenth season at VfB Stuttgart. The Heilbronn native has blossomed into one of the finest young goalkeepers in Germany since joining VfB’s U12 side in 2015, winning 16 youth international caps for his country between U16 and U20 level. He also helped VfB’s U17s to runners-up spot in the league in 2022 and has been the U21 side’s first-choice goalkeeper since the 2023/24 campaign, backstopping them to promotion from the Regionalliga Southwest (fourth tier) to the 3. Liga. The left-footer has been involved with the first team for two years now and will continue to wear VfB colours for the foreseeable future after extending his contract with the club until 2029.
“Signing an extension is a special moment for me because I’ve been wearing the VfB shirt for a very long time and feel at home here,” Seimen said. “I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey so far. My dream has always been to make the step from the youth set-up to first-team goalkeeper. I’ll continue to work hard so that one day, I can stand in goal in front of the Cannstatt End.”
“Dennis has developed magnificently at VfB over the past few years and has reached a very high standard already,” said Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport. “In his 3. Liga appearances so far, he has demonstrated emphatically that he can compete at that level, despite his young age. Dennis epitomises the future of VfB in the goalkeeping department, which is why we really wanted to tie him to the club on a long-term deal. We’re very pleased we’ve managed to do that and that Dennis will continue to wear the VfB jersey.”
