Kappa and Mainz 05 agree to end partnership early

1. FSV Mainz 05 will be kitted out by team sports specialists JAKO for the 2023/24 season. The club have agreed to an early end to their partnership with current outfitter Kappa, which was originally set to run until the end of June 2025. The agreement will now end on 30th June 2023. The Italian sportswear manufacturer had been the official kit supplier of Mainz 05 since 2020.

“We were able to develop a shirt design together with Kappa and give our fans a design that was personally tailored to Mainz 05, something that also applies to our 2022/23 shirt. We would like to thank Kappa for the strong partnership we enjoyed with them,” said Dr. Jan Lehmann, commercial director at 1. FSV Mainz 05.

As of 2023, the club’s new official kit supplier will be JAKO, who are based in Baden-Württemberg. The two parties have agreed a partnership over the next five years, until June 2028.

Together with JAKO, Mainz 05 are looking to set new standards for sustainability in the Bundesliga.

Lehmann continued: “We are pleased to be able to present a new kit supplier so soon, and one that is a perfect fit for our club. As a family business from the south-west of Germany with a focus on sustainable production, JAKO has many similarities with Mainz 05. We now want to use this to produce individual, high-quality and environmentally-friendly shirts for our teams and our fans. Together with JAKO, Mainz 05 are looking to set new standards for sustainability in the Bundesliga.”
