RB Leipzigdefeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1on Bundesliga matchday 22. Here is the team’s reaction to the game.
- “I think it was a deserved win over the 90 minutes. It was the kind of intense and difficult game that we were expecting. The stats show that the win was justified, but also indicate that it was a close game. Overall it was a good performance from the team, above all in the first half. Their goal made the game an open one in the second half.
We had the opportunity to close the game out earlier on. But at 2-1 you always have to be on your guard, especially against a team like Frankfurt. But we defended our lead well and are pleased to round off a good and intense week like that.”

Match report: RB Leipzig 2-1 Frankfurt
Matchday facts: RB Leipzig 2-1 Frankfurt
- “It was a very important win today when considering our objectives for this season. After the games against City and Wolfsburg, we wanted to take the momentum from what has been a good week. In the first half we were very dominant and had a lot of good chances that we just didn’t see through. In the second half we made the game a close one, which was unnecessary.
It was very important to put some distance between ourselves and Frankfurt in the race for the Champions League places. It also does me some good to get a goal and assist today. I’ve been fully pain free for around a week and a half – before that I kept feeling something in my foot. You can really tell the difference when you can run free of pain.“
- “It was a really good game with a lot of intensity. The two halves were really different; we were better in the first half and Frankfurt were better in the second, but we got the win in the end. We played really well before half time, found a lot of solutions in possession and switched the ball a lot. That’s how we like to play.
Frankfurt did really well in the second half. We were trying to counter attack after the early goal and we had a few really good chances. But we were playing against a really good team with a lot of quality. We’re taking things game-by-game and always want to improve. We have a really exciting game on Friday.”
- “We’re really pleased to keep the three points in Leipzig. It was a very intense game. We were feeling it in our legs a bit in the second half, but the substitutions brought some fresh energy. It’s important that we always go to our limit. Of course we want to reward our performance with goals.
We could have perhaps put the game to bed earlier on, but it was clear that we weren’t going to be able to dominate the game for the whole 90 minutes the way we did early on. We’ll take the good feeling with us into the next game.“
