RB Leipzig were defeated 1-0 away against VfL Bochum on Bundesliga matchday 25. Despite a number of chances for André Silva, Timo Werner & co., the only goal of the game came in the second half and was scored by Erhan Masovic.

Despite sunny weather ahead of kick off, heavy rain quickly began to fall early in the first half and had a significant impact on the game. As a result, clear chances were few and far between in an opening 45 that saw some heavy challenges and cards for both sides. Timo Werner had a couple of shots that missed the target (22’, 26’), while André Silva (41’) was also unable to beat Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann and the sides went into the break level.

The hosts enjoyed the perfect start to the second half when Erhan Masovic headed home after Janis Blaswich saved a header from Takuma Asano (48’). After taking the lead, Bochum focused on defending their advantage and hitting on the counter. Szoboszlai continued to be a threat for the home side from open play and dead balls, but RBL couldn’t find a way past Riemann. André Silva had some late chances and had a shot hit the inside of the post and bounce clear in the final minutes, just moments after Emil Forsberg had a header tipped over the bar. It wasn’t to be for Marco Rose’s side in Bochum and they were forced to head into the international break on the back of a 1-0 defeat
