Andrej Kramarić is known at TSG as a reliable penalty taker – and he proved it for the Croatian national team. After their match against Tunisia – played as part of a mini-tournament in Egypt – remained goalless, TSG’s record goalscorer converted his attempt in the penalty shoot-out to help Croatia reach the final against the hosts.
Florian Grillitsch, meanwhile, witnessed an outstanding individual performance by a former Hoffenheim player. Christoph Baumgartner embarked on a solo run towards the Slovakian goal from the kick-off and found the back of the net after just six seconds. Austria – with Grillitsch on the pitch for the first 45 minutes – ultimately won 2-0.
Although Maximilian Beier and Oliver Baumann did not take to the pitch for Germany in their friendly against France, they witnessed an impressive and well-deserved 2-0 win for coach Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Germany’s next opponents, the Netherlands, were also victorious in their match against Scotland. Ronald Koeman’s team struggled for large parts of the game, but nonetheless ran out 4-0 winners by the final whistle. TSG striker Wout Weghorst was substituted on in the 77th minute and headed home from a corner just a few minutes later to make it 3-0.
David Jurásek also had a win to celebrate. The Czech international came on as a 61st-minute substitute in his country’s 2-1 win over Norway and was on the pitch to celebrate the winner scored by Antonin Barak of Fiorentina.
Kasim Adams had a less enjoyable evening. The TSG defender was substituted on for Ghana in the 63rd minute of their match with Nigeria. Ghana were 1-0 down when he came on, and not long afterwards, a teammate was red carded. The match ended 2-1 to Nigeria.
Ozan Kabak’s Turkey also lost on Friday evening. The team coached by Vincenzo Montella were beaten 1-0 by Hungary, with the TSG defender on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
