VfL Bochum 1848 is getting a new kit supplier: Mizuno, the well-established Japanese company, will be equipping all the Blue and Whites’ teams with technically sophisticated functional clothing from the 2022/23 season onwards. Not only does Mizuno have a long tradition of developing and marketing products for many sports, the company, which was founded in Osaka in 1906, has also had professional expertise in football since the 1950s.
“Mizuno has a long tradition as an innovative player in a variety of sports,” said Ilja Kaenzig, spokesman for the management of VfL Bochum 1848. “We are looking forward to having Mizuno on our side as a new premium partner who, thanks to its innovative technical products, will help our teams deliver the best possible performance.”
In addition to the equipment for the pros, the teams from our Talentwerk academy and the women’s and girls’ teams will also be equipped by Mizuno. And the fans have also been thought of, Mizuno will offer a large selection of individual fan collections here together with VfL.
Mizuno was founded in 1906 by the brothers Rihachi and Rizo Mizuno. The grandson of company founder Rihachi, Akito Mizuno, is now president of the Mizuno Corporation. He says: “We are very happy about working with VfL Bochum 1848, a passionate club with a long history. For us as a specialist multi-sport brand, this partnership with VfL Bochum 1848 is important for our positioning in soccer. The goal is to continuously offer innovative technologies and products that improve the team’s performance in order to be successful together in the future.”
Mizuno has been involved in football since the 1950s and has always developed in this field, with the company and its employees acting entirely in line with the Japanese “Kaizen” philosophy of life and work, with the aim of continuous improvement.
“While we are delighted with Mizuno’s new commitment, we would also like to express our sincere thanks to our previous partners Nike and 11Teamsports,” Ilja Kaenzig continues. “The past eleven years of cooperation with VfL has been one of the longest periods in VfL’s equipment history.”
In addition to football, Mizuno also develops products for other sports such as running, handball, volleyball, baseball, judo and golf.
Mizuno has a long tradition as an equipment supplier in football, starting with its own shoes, which have been manufactured since the mid-1950s. In addition, Mizuno was a partner of the J-League since its founding in 1992 and for years thereafter. Since then, the company has focused primarily on shoe partnerships with many legends of soccer, including currently, for example, Sergio Ramos.
