An historic event for all blue and whites! The victory against Bayern Munich last weekend caused great euphoria in VfL circles. Partly spectacular goals in the first half and a team that fought hard did us proud – after 90 highly emotional minutes, VfL had actually defeated the German record champions 4-2!

8,500 spectators witnessed this piece of club history live in the Vonovia Ruhrstadion. Many more watched the unexpected home victory on their TV sets. By the way, not only in Bochum and the surrounding area, but also far beyond the borders of Germany. In Vietnam, for example. For several weeks now, VfL has been on site with its Soccer School, with more than 60 enthusiastic children and almost 20 coaches regularly taking part in the online courses. Now, the first watching party for a VfL game took place in Ho Chi Minh City – a mere 9,700 kilometers away from Bochum. 80 Vietnamese fans came to the Lim Coffee House to watch our home game against Bayern and celebrated a spectacular performance during the first half and, of course, the four blue and white goals.

The game itself was by no means the only thing on the day’s agenda. To set the mood for this day of great joy from VfL’s point of view, the fans in attendance received a message of greeting from Milos Pantovic. This was followed by the first live broadcast “anne Castroper”. VfL legend Dariusz Wosz was available for an extensive question-and-answer session before the 80 fans went into the first half. It was a game that was unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry.

An all-round successful day, both at the Castroper and in Ho Chi Minh City. We would like to thank our partner Schächter Sports for the realization of our first Watching Party in Vietnam!
