Wolves back in the hunt

VfL Wolfsburg claimed a hugely important 1-0 win away to VfB Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon, reigniting their bid for a European place. In a scrappy, hard-fought game, e-Stuttgarter Omar Marmoush scored the only goal in the 56th minute of the match. The three points move the Wolves back up to seventh in the table – although Mainz, who they overtook, don’t play until Sunday (against Freiburg).

13 on their travels

The Wolves made it four league games without defeat with the 1-0 win at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon. Training will of course continue in Wolfsburg during this period, but head coach Niko Kovac will be without several first-team players as no fewer than 13 Green-and-Whites made their way to their national teams following the win in Stuttgart.

With the hosts under greater pressure going into Matchday 25, VfL can play without shackles as they sit comfortably in mid-table. Nevertheless, it’s set to be a keenly fought contest, as it was when the Wolves won 3-2 in the reverse fixture.
