After a short week of training off the back of their 2-0 home win against FC Augsburg, SV Werder will be back on the road for matchday 15 to face Borussia Mönchengladbach on 15th December (20:30 CET). The Green-Whites are looking to build on last weekend’s strong performance. “Every point is important for us. Gladbach are in the same section of the table as us, so I’m expecting it to be an even game,” explained head coach Ole Werner in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

SV Werder Bremen have agreed a contract extension with Romano Schmid. The Austrian midfielder signed a new deal on Wednesday.

SV Werder’s captain Marco Friedl will not be in head coach Ole Werner’s squad for the away fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening. An MRI scan conducted by team doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis revealed that the Austrian has suffered a minor injury to his adductor.

While FCA are focused on maintaining their strong form and extending their unbeaten streak, SVW are looking to use the home advantage to win all three points and create some distance between them and the relegation zone.

The defeat to VfB Stuttgart was a tough pill to swallow for SV Werder, and the boys were forced to reflect critically on their performance. Nevertheless, the Green-Whites have reviewed last week’s game in the same way they normally do. “We have a critical way of looking back on our matches, both when we lose or win points. We haven’t deviated from this for the game against Stuttgart,” explained head coach Ole Werner in the press conference prior to the home clash with FC Augsburg on Saturday, 19th December (15:30 CET).

SV Werder Bremen will resume training after the winter break on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024, ahead of the remainder of the season.
