First start in 582 days

As matchday dawned at the team hotel in Stuttgart last Saturday, Felix Agu couldn’t have known yet what that evening would hold for him. Head coach Ole Werner informed the team of his team selection in the morning, with Agu learning that he would soon make his long-awaited return to the starting line-up, 582 days after his most recent start for the Green-Whites. “To be honest, I was really looking forward to it, because it had been so long since my last start,” the 24-year-old said about that moment.

See you again soon, Vietnam! Werder’s first delegation trip to Hanoi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City has now come to an end, and the itinerary was certainly jam-packed with activities. For this reason, there was a low mood among the players and staff in the mixed zone after the match. WERDER.DE have summarised the reaction to the Green-Whites’ defeat.

A strong final push from the Green-Whites was unfortunately no use, as the visitors were unable to put a goal past the impressive Stuttgart eleven.

Looking to take points off this season’s surprise package

Despite just narrowly steering clear of relegation last season, VfB Stuttgart are the favourites in the upcoming fixture at the MHPArena against SV Werder Bremen on Saturday, 2nd December (18:30 CET). With nine wins and 27 points under their belts, the hosts are currently occupying third place in the Bundesliga table – an impressive return after 12 matchdays. The Green-Whites under head coach Ole Werner are not fazed by their upcoming opponent’s success, and are travelling to Stuttgart with their sights set on picking up their first three points on the road this season.

“Going to Stuttgart to win the game”

After having to sit out of last week’s pre-match press conference due to illness, Ole Werner was back answering the journalists’ questions as usual ahead of Saturday evening’s away meeting with VfB Stuttgart (18:30 CET). Despite Amos Pieper’s serious injury casting a shadow over the week of training, the head coach is determined to rise to the upcoming challenge.
