After a successful start in Vietnam, SV Werder Bremen are intensifying their internationalisation activities in South America. The “Football Development” programme in the Colombian metropolitan city Medellín, which is aimed specifically at children and young people as well as local coaches, began in December.

SV Werder Bremen have confirmed that they will take part in a ten-day training camp in Zillertal from the 27th July 2024 at the start of the 2024/25 pre-season period. This trip will mark the Green-Whites 13th visit to Zell-Gerlos in the Zillertal Arena region, which has been a fixed destination in their pre-season schedule for over a decade.

What a great end to 2023! In the last game in Bremen of the year, SVW’s end-to-end affair with RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening saw both teams take home a hard-fought point after the game ended 1-1. Although the visitors took charge of the first half an hour and opened the scoring just after the break, the Green-Whites showed grit and determination to make a much-deserved comeback. SVW created numerous big chances in the first 45 minutes, and were able to breathe a sigh of relief when Leipzig’s opener was ruled offside by VAR one minute after half-time. Loïs Openda put RBL ahead in the 47th minute, but Njinmah responded with an ice-cold curler to give the Green-Whites their long-awaited equaliser (75’).

The Green-Whites are looking to head into the winter break on the back of a win in the last home game of the year against RB Leipzig on Tuesday, 19th December (18:30 CET). Although the upcoming opponents are currently third in the league, Ole Werner’s team are looking to replicate their past successes at the wohninvest WESERSTADION and round off 2023 with three points.

On Tuesday evening, 18th December 2023 at 18:30 CET, a formidable opponent will visit the Weser in the shape of RB Leipzig. SVW will have to put in a stellar performance if they want to pick up all three points. Of course, having one or two players out injured does not make it any easier. “Everything has to go right for us,” said Ole Werner at the press conference on Monday ahead of the final home game of the year. “But in these conditions, under the floodlights and with support from outside, we’ll definitely have a chance of winning the game.”

The clash between SV Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening ended level with a 2-2 draw under the floodlights at BORUSSIA-PARK. The Green-Whites got off to a flying start thanks to an opener from Rafael Borré (7’), and held onto their lead until just after the break, when Rocco Reitz’s brace seemingly shattered the visitors’ hopes of three points (45’, 49’). However, Marvin Ducksch had other ideas, as the Germany international secured the equaliser for Werder in the 76th minute and rewarded the Green-Whites for their strong performance.

The general consensus among the Green-Whites following Friday night’s away clash against Mönchengladbach was that they “could’ve come away from the game with more.” Nevertheless, as they were forced to make a comeback after giving away their lead, SV Werder are certainly appreciative of the point they picked up at BORUSSIA-PARK. Ole Werner’s guiding principle ahead of matchday 15 is to build on last week’s performance. Following the 2-0 win against Augsburg, the goal is to “follow up a win with more points”.
