VfL Wolfsburg

All or nothing?

When VfL welcome SV Werder Bremen to the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday 5 November (15:30 CET) – just five days after knocking DFB Cup holders Leipzig out of the competition – they won’t just be facing the Bundesliga’s only other northern club. The two teams also have the most evenly balanced head-to-head record in the top flight, having won 20 games each, shared the spoils on ten occasions and scored 89 goals apiece. Intriguingly, though, both VfL and Werder have yet to draw a game this season.

Borussia Dortmund

Kehl: “We mustn’t let it be taken away from us!”

Sebastian Kehl: “We deservedly won in the end and took an important step today. We’ll soak up the euphoria and take it with us. We need another 90 minutes at our stadium with the power that we’ve shown in recent weeks. Now we mustn’t let it be taken away from us! I’m really happy for the team. We need three more points. We will do everything and be very focused next week. Munich want to keep up the pressure. I know how it is as a player. It will be different as a manager, but certainly just as amazing in the end. We had a difficult first half of the season. Now we’ve seized the opportunity. But it wasn’t easy, Augsburg were very aggressive.”

SC Freiburg

With a “newfound bravery” against Mönchengladbach

“We now have to support the boys as much as possible. It is not easy mentally – you always have another game and after the Pokal exit the boys are obviously disappointed,” said Streich, based on what the players have said, and the fact that games are coming thick and fast. “We wanted the boys to calm down and to rest. We have tried to ensure that the disappointment hasn’t lingered for too long.” The head coach is confident that this has worked. “The boys were fully focussed on Gladbach today. They were calm and they also have a good relationship with each other. That obviously helps. We can now go into this next game with a newfound bravery.” There is another positive, with Yannick Keitel back in team training.

TSG Hoffenheim condemn terror and violence

TSG Hoffenheim has been following developments in the Middle East with great dismay. Our thoughts are with all those affected on the ground, the many victims as well as the families and friends of the relatives.
