TSG Hoffenheim has been following developments in the Middle East with great dismay. The terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel and the criminal murder of innocent Jewish civilians has left us deeply shocked and horrified. Our thoughts are with all those affected on the ground, the many victims as well as the families and friends of the relatives.

We condemn war, terror and violence – everywhere in the world. The security of Israel is also Germany’s responsibility – as is the culture of remembrance of the atrocities of the Holocaust during the National Socialist era. In the past, TSG Hoffenheim has repeatedly acknowledged Germany’s special responsibility towards the Jewish people and actively contributed to the process of coming to terms with the history of National Socialism. “Never again!” is also our mission, which we as a club always meet anew. TSG Hoffenheim has already been awarded the “Gottfried Fuchs Prize” and the “Julius Hirsch Prize” for its commitment against racism and anti-Semitism. The memorial trip to the internment camp in Gurs, France, was as much a part of processing Germany’s Nazi past as the film “Zahor – Erinnere Dich”, in which the former TSG player Ilay Elmkies appears as narrator and actor. The story of the brothers Menachem and Fred Mayer, who grew up in Hoffenheim and whose family was deported by the National Socialists, has also already been addressed in numerous activities and formats.

TSG Hoffenheim positions itself clearly and unequivocally against anti-Semitism. We also condemn all forms of war, terror and violence. TSG supports the joint action of the DFB and DFL and will hold a minute’s silence at the home match against Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday, 21 August, 15:30 CET) to make a visible statement for peace.
