The DFL has scheduled eight matchdays shortly before Christmas. That includes five TSG Hoffenheim home games  of which two will be played on Saturdays and three will take place on Sundays. The home game against VfL Stuttgart will be the focus of particular attention: the clash with the Swabians is the Matchday 26 game of the round and will kick off at the PreZero Arena at 18:30 CET on 16 March. The clashes against 1. FC Heidenheim (27 January) and Union Berlin (17 February) will begin at 15:30 CET on Saturdays, while Werder Bremen will pay a visit at 17:30 CET on Sunday 3 March.

The Black & Yellows had been put through their paces in a training session in Brixen im Thale on Thursday morning. At 18:00 CET, they were all set to face Lommel SK in Salzburg. Awaiting them were a tidy footballing side who also present a robust physical challenge. Both teams started the match with one objective in mind: try to create chances right from the first kick of the ball. The Belgians proved more successful in the first half. Lommel enjoyed more possession, and fashioned several good opportunities to score the opening goal. The Black & Yellows’ best chance before the break came in the 43rd minute, as Michael Eberwein played in Falko Michel, who was unable to finish past the keeper.
