Sebastian Kehl looks ahead to the new season
Sebastian Kehl on the first days with the team:
“Last season was very disappointing in the end. We all needed some time. In my role, I had to switch gears again quickly because several challenges awaited. The team had sufficient time to process things. The international players are still away and will only return to the team next week. I have perceived those who are here to be very motivated. There’s a good atmosphere and a great desire and excitement for the new season. Of course, you can also feel that we have different squad situation with players from the U23s and the U19s. An injury during his time there prevented more playing time.
Pictures of team training – Moukoko, Nmecha and Adeyemi absent
Like the day before, players from the U23s and the U19s made up the numbers in training – the internationals are only set to return to Dortmund in mid-July. Felix Nmecha, who was signed at the start of the week, also could not take part in team training. “He came into pre-season carrying an ankle injury from last season. That will definitely last a few more days,” said Sebastian Kehl. The sporting director is hoping that Nmecha will be back on the pitch with his new team-mates next week. “He’s already running individually and working intensively.”
