Kris Boyd think’s there’s “no doubt” Ange Postecoglou will “move on to a bigger league,” as the pundit detailed the chances of the Celtic manager taking the vacant Leeds United job.

Leeds are making a habit of dismissing a manager just before entering crunch time in a relegation battle. They did so last season when they got rid of Marcelo Bielsa in February.

His replacement, Jesse Marsch, was fired in February of this year. Indeed, it makes sense as to why the Whites have chosen this time of the season to see the back of both managers.

After 22 games, it means the new boss will be given 16 games to try guide his side to survival. Leeds are currently one point above the drop zone, in 17th.

One name that has been reported as a potential to take the job is Celtic boss Postecoglou.  Former Rangers footballer Boyd has detailed how likely it is for the manager to take that job.

“I don’t think it would be to Leeds or any time soon,” Boyd told Sky Sports.

“There is no doubt Ange Postecoglou will move on to probably a bigger and more competitive league.

“In terms of the job Ange Postecoglou [has done] he deserves it. When he does go I think it will be for the best of Scottish football, because he will have done a fantastic job.”

Indeed, has done a great job in his short time at Celtic so far. The former Australia manager won the league in his first season, and has Celtic nine points clear of rivals Rangers this season.

As such, Boyd may well be right that he’ll not move soon, instead carrying on his domination of Scottish football.

“There is no doubt the job he has done at Celtic is unbelievable; to do the job he has done and win the league. With the job he has done this season you would expect him to retain it, which I always think is the most difficult job,” Boyd added.

However, it’s not uncommon for managers in the Scottish top flight to go onto bigger things after a few good seasons. In recent memory, Brendan Rodgers and then Steven Gerrard both did so after winning the league.

However, Leicester City and Aston Villa are bigger jobs than Leeds. As such, Postecoglou might well hold out for a bigger role coming around in the future.
