Tottenham are set to be notified about the availability of Arne Slot after his representatives meet with Feyenoord on Wednesday, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Slot’s Feyenoord were crowned Eredivisie champions earlier this month having lost one league match all season.

Ajax had won two titles in a row, but all eras come to an end, as Erik ten Hag once said.

Slot has emerged as the leading candidate for the Tottenham job following the sacking of Antonio Conte in March.

Cristian Stellini took interim charge until the end of 2022/23, but he only lasted four games and was subsequently replaced by Ryan Mason, who will be in the dugout for the Londoners’ final Premier League match of the season at Leeds United on Sunday before Daniel Levy appoints a permanent manager.

Levy had made ex-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann his top target despite talk of the Tottenham chairman bringing Mauricio Pochettino back to the club.

Nagelsmann decided he did not want to move to north London, however, which has resulted in Slot becoming the frontrunner for the job.

There has been some talk that Slot has already agreed to join Spurs, though this does not seem to be case. That is not to say the Dutchman is not open to the move; that appears to be true.

Fabrizio Romano said on Tuesday that Slot is ‘open’ to replacing Conte after denying that Levy has reopened talks with Nagelsmann.

And on Wednesday morning, Romano confirmed that Slot’s representatives will hold talks with Feyenoord ‘in the next hours’.

Writing on Twitter, the Italian journalist said that the 44-year-old is the ‘frontrunner’ for the Spurs job with a compensation package a ‘crucial point’ of the negotiations.

Romano wrote: ‘Negotiations will take place in the next hours between Feyenoord & Arne Slot representative to discuss conditions of his possible exit. Compensation, crucial point.

The other candidates thought to be in contention are Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, Sporting’s Ruben Amorim and former Spain boss Luis Enrique.

Enrique is the only one of those three out of work, so will not require a compensation fee, though his wage demands will surely be significantly larger than Postecoglou and Amorim’s.
