Man Utd will attempt to sign Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde if Sheikh Jassim’s bid for the club is successful, according to reports.

The Red Devils are in the middle of a potential takeover with Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim and INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe vying for control of the club.

Interested parties had until April 28 to submit a third bid for Man Utd with both Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe lodging offers before the deadline.

However, worried that he might lose out to Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim ‘submitted a final offer’ directly to the Glazers in what was described as a ‘seismic development’ on Tuesday.

There was another update on Thursday with claims that ‘most leading minority investors’ in Man Utd ‘favour’ Sheikh Jassim’s offer for Man Utd over Ratcliffe’s.

Football Insider explained:

‘The new Qatari bid is believed to be for around £5.5billion, while takeover rival Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s valuation is higher but his proposal is to take a smaller stake.

‘That would likely leave the Glazers with a minority stake and almost certainly leave the shares currently in public ownership untouched.

‘The Qatari proposal would instead offer a premium price to prise away publicly-traded shares from the likes of Lindsell Train and Ariel Investments, whose stakes are worth hundreds of millions.

‘Two well-placed sources – one with a direct investment interest and one from within the football finance industry – insist that the Qatari proposal is favoured among influential minority shareholders.

‘The premium that Sheikh Jassim’s group would offer to buy out minority shareholders would, it is claimed, represent an opportunity too good for many to turn down.’

The current situation is leaving Man Utd in limbo over transfers with The Athletic journalist David Ornstein insisting that the potential takeover is stunting their plans for the summer window.

Ornstein told the Vibe with Five YouTube channel: “United to my knowledge are not able to move on much at all. You speak to people around the club and there seems to be a clear sense that they might have to sell before they can buy.

“Maybe there can be a bit of wiggle room to bring in somebody but by and large, while there is uncertainty over the ownership situation, it could take departures to free up the funds for acquisitions.”

But Spanish publication Nacional claim that Sheikh Jassim intends to make the funds available for Man Utd to attempt to sign Real Madrid ‘untouchables’ Vinicius Jr. and Valverde.

They are Sheikh Jassim’s ‘two galactic goals to reinforce’ Erik ten Hag’s squad at Old Trafford with Man Utd intending to make Vinicius Jr. ‘one of the best paid’ players in world football.

Man Utd will use ‘the same strategy’ for Valverde with the Uruguay international seen as a ‘indispensable piece’ of Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the Bernabeu.

Perez ‘is convinced that neither Vinicius nor Valverde will leave Madrid’ with the pair ‘very satisfied to be part of such an ambitious and competitive project’.
