Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly urged the Real Madrid hierarchy to sign Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane.

Kane is a man in demand with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the England captain, who is expected to cost north of £100million should any of Spurs’ Premier League rivals wish to sign him.

According to reports, the 29-year-old will not sign a new contract and is willing to leave for nothing next year, leaving Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in a sticky situation.

Levy will have to decide if it is worth selling to United or Chelsea given the risk of losing Kane on a free transfer. In an ideal world, the player signs a new contract, but that seems unrealistic, meaning the best-case scenario for Levy is selling to a foreign club.

Bayern have shown a reluctance to pay Levy’s asking price and have turned their attention to alternative targets, such as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Juventus hitman Dusan Vlahovic.

Luckily for the Spurs owner, Real Madrid are now in the mix.

Karim Benzema’s future is currently up in the air amidst interest from Saudi Arabia, though it appears the Ballon d’Or holder is looking to stay in the Spanish capital.

Even with Benzema remaining at the club, there is a reluctance at Real to go into the 2023/24 season without another striker.

Rumours of Kane joining Madrid are heating up and Los Blancos manager Ancelotti was asked about the Spurs talisman during a press conference on Saturday.

Ancelotti remained coy on the rumours, refusing to openly comment about a player who plays elsewhere.

“I have always said that Kane is a great player, but he plays for Tottenham and we have to respect the player and Tottenham,” the Italian told reporters.

The board did tell Ancelotti they would try to make the transfer happen, but the ‘difficulties’ of the deal were ‘highlighted’.

Of course, Kane’s preference is to stay in England so he can break Alan Shearer’s record as the all-time top scorer in the Premier League.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly ‘obsessed’ with the idea of signing Kane with a new No. 9 his top summer priority.

The report notes that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is expected to join the La Liga giants this summer, was mentioned.

Meanwhile, Madrid confirmed on Saturday that Marco Asensio will leave the club when his contract expires next month.

The Athletic have reported that in a deal worth €10m per year.
