Man City striker Julian Alvarez is wanted by Bayern Munich and is facing an ‘uncertain’ summer, according to reports in Germany.
Alvarez was bought by Man City for a reported £17million in January 2022, though he spent another six months at River Plate before linking up with his new teammates.
Signed alongside Erling Haaland, the Argentinian World Cup winner has played second fiddle to the Norweigan striker for much of his debut season at the Etihad.
He has still managed 47 appearances across all competitions in 2022/23, starting 22 times, and scoring an impressive 17 goals, including nine in the Premier League.
Alvarez is clearly happy with his role under Pep Guardiola as he signed a new five-year contract extension in March, despite the fact he only joined the club last year.
However, reliable transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg has stated that the 23-year-old’s future in Manchester is ‘uncertain’.
Plettenberg says German giants Bayern Munich are interested in signing Alvarez and have made an ‘enquiry’ as he is not a regular starter.
‘He’s on the list’ ahead of the summer transfer window with Bayern expected to spend big on a new striker.
Plettenberg mentioned Eintracht Frankfurt forward , who is believed to be a Man Utd target.
Bayern and the Red Devils have also been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Tottenham’s Harry Kane, with Chelsea also keen to buy an out-and-out goalscorer at the end of the season.
A summer move for Alvarez does seem unrealistic, but it cannot be taken with a pinch of salt given Plettenberg’s reliability. This news was first reported by Sport Bild.
The German journalist has also provided an update on Osimhen amidst links to Chelsea, Man Utd and Bayern.
The Nigerian striker is ‘top of the list’ for the Blues but Napoli want ‘at least €150m’, which is ‘problematic’ for the Londoners, especially given the fact they cannot offer Osimhen Champions League football.
Kolo Muani is reportedly Bayern’s number-one target with a move for Kane now looking unlikely.
Plettenberg recently reported that Frankfurt have made contact over the signing of Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, hinting that they are preparing for life without Kolo Muani.
Frankfurt signed the Frenchman from Nantes last summer on a free transfer and now stand to make a colossal profit with talk of a €100m price tag. Sucks to be you, Nantes.
Man City aren’t overly bothered by losing Julian Alvarez but how would the other Premier League teams cope without their equivalent? Arsenal can wave goodbye to their title chances.
Barcelona have ‘radically’ changed their tune and are now ‘ready to sit down’ with Manchester City to discuss the €80m transfer of the previously ‘untouchable’ midfielder.
According to reports, Samu Omorodion’s ‘collapsed’ move to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid means two other deals worth £98m have been thrust ‘into doubt’.
