Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool are ‘informed’ on Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea but the midfielder is yet to make a decision on his future.

are expected to sign one or two new midfielders this summer as part of their rebuild ahead of next season.

There is no doubt that centre-midfield is one of Liverpool’s weak points and they are considering several targets.

Signing Jude Bellingham is their main priority in that position but they are also being linked with Chelsea star Mount. He is out of contract in 2024 and he is yet to commit his future to the London outfit.

The England international has been in talks with Chelsea over a new deal in recent months but an agreement is yet to be reached.

It has reportedly been made clear that Mount will be sold this summer if he does not sign a new contract before then.

Liverpool are expected to let one or two players leave this summer to fund moves for potential replacements. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all out of contract later this year.

Romano is reporting that Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are likely to ‘follow Roberto Firmino and leave Liverpool’. This is while Milner ‘will decide’ in ‘May/June’ whether he will stay on beyond this summer.

‘Liverpool are informed on Mason Mount’s situation, but his talks with Chelsea have not 100% collapsed yet. Other clubs are also monitoring Mount’s future in case he’ll be allowed to leave in the summer,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

‘I expect both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to follow Roberto Firmino and leave Liverpool on a free transfer this summer.

‘James Milner will decide in the next months, he will speak to Jurgen Klopp too. For all the other players, it will be decided in May/June ahead of the transfer window. Firmino, Keita and Oxlade will explore options soon but nothing is decided yet.’

Romano added: ‘I’ve been asked about emerging links between Mason Mount and Newcastle. For now, no preference has been confirmed on the player side as talks with Chelsea are on stand-by.’

“Sometimes these things happen. They’re complicated and it’s best I speak little about it.”

Potter added: “I’ve spoken to him several times about life in general. My feelings for Mason are clear and I think he’s a fantastic person.

“I’m not naive and I know it’s an important contract for him. These things have to be right for him and his family and it’s important he makes the right choice for him.”
