Marcel Sabitzer insists he “didn’t have to think ten seconds” about moving from Bayern Munich to Man Utd in the January transfer window.

The Austria international appeared in 24 matches for the Bundesliga giants before choosing to make the switch to Old Trafford on loan until the end of the season.

Sabitzer played the majority of his matches this season for Bayern Munich off the bench but his team-mate in Germany, Thomas Muller, admits the squad were “suprised” he’d been allowed to leave.

“The team was surprised. It happened very quickly,” Muller told Kicker in February.

“I’m happy for Sabi that he’s moving to Manchester United, getting a chance to play there. Manchester is a huge name.”

Sabitzer has been afforded more starts for Man Utd than at Bayern, , with the Austrian thriving in a more advanced position in recent matches.

He was man of the match as in their Europa League quarter-final first leg during the week with Sabitzer scoring both their goals.

And the loanee insists it was an easy decision to make when he heard about the interest from Man Utd in the winter window.

“I came here out of nowhere. My only expectation was to replace Christian Eriksen, who suffered an ankle injury,” Sabitzer told Sport Bild.

“Then Casemiro got a red card, and I was immediately promoted. Arriving at Old Trafford is a great feeling, the stadium is legendary.

“I didn’t have to think ten seconds after United called. I said straight away: if the time works, we’ll do it! It was a blatant day: I got the call from my advisor Roger Wittmann at 12 noon.

“I hung up briefly, talked to my fiancée. She said: do it! Now I’m sitting here three months later, and I’m totally satisfied with how it went.”

His comments come after Sabitzer said earlier in the week that with the midfielder strongly hinting that he would be up for a permanent switch.

“I found my place here. Now I know the Premier League and can say there’s nothing better.”
