Arsenal, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain are the favourites to land Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Diaby actually played for the Parisiens between 2013 and 2019, making 34 first-team appearances in that time.

After failing to establish himself in the French capital, the 23-year-old joined Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen for €15million.

He has been very impressive in Germany and is enjoying another fine campaign, netting 13 goals and providing nine assists in 38 matches across all competitions.

PSG have been linked with their former player for quite a while and obviously have the funds at their disposal should they wish to re-sign him.

Arsenal and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in signing Diaby and have both been strongly linked with him over the last two years or so.

The Magpies were strongly linked in the winter transfer window and ended up signing Anthony Gordon from Everton for around £45m.

Their interest in Diaby remains, however, and are being tipped to make another attempt when the transfer window re-opens in June.

Arsenal – despite signing Leandro Trossard in January – also remain linked with the French international.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad as the Gunners prepare to return to the Champions League.

A new midfielder remains the Spaniard’s priority ahead of the summer window, but he is likely to be in the market for another forward and defender.

Diaby would be an excellent addition having provided 21 goal contributions in 34 matches in Europe for both Bayer Leverkusen and PSG.

He would struggle to surpass Gabriel Martinelli and/or Bukayo Saka in the pecking order, but given the amount of matches Arsenal are expected to play next season, Diaby would be guaranteed regular playing time.

According to German outlet Sport BILD, Arsenal, Newcastle and PSG are ‘among the favourites’ to land Diaby this summer.

The report states that the Geordies ‘wanted’ Diaby in the winter window, but Bayer were not prepared to let their star player leave mid-season.

Newcastle are ‘attacking again’, though it is said that Arsenal ‘keep in constant contact’ with the player’s entourage.

Speaking earlier this year, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Arsenal highly rate Diaby.

“Moussa Diaby is a player that Arsenal have been following for a long time and they know him very well,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“They’re convinced of his potential but, at the same time, Bayer Leverkusen have no intention to sell the player in January unless they receive a really important bid.”

Meanwhile, a report from Le10Sport says PSG are concerned about Newcastle’s interest in Diaby.

The French champions apparently lack confidence they will be able to beat the Magpies, or Arsenal, in the race to sign the winger – who is valued at €50m by Transfermarkt.

As mentioned prior, Arsenal will be back in the Champions League next season, while Newcastle are in an extremely strong position to qualify for Europe’s elite competition.
