After two years with the Wolves, 22-year-old centre-back Micky van de Ven has left the Green-and-Whites to join Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Van de Ven signed for VfL from Dutch club FC Volendam in the summer of 2021 and went on to make 41 competitive outings in his two seasons in Germany, scoring once and providing three assists. The left-footed defender blossomed into a key player for the Wolves last term, appearing in 33 of the club’s 34 Bundesliga matches. “We’ve had two enjoyable, eventful years together and it’s been a successful time in every respect,” said Marcel Schäfer, VfL’s managing director for sport. “Micky always showed full commitment to VfL Wolfsburg, worked hard and has developed outstandingly well. We wish him all the best going forward, both in his personal life and his career.”
Micky van de Ven: “Two fantastic years at a wonderful club have come to an end. In Wolfsburg, I was able to mature as a person and as a footballer, and take the next step in my career. I will always have very fond memories of everything we experienced and achieved together, and I will really miss my team-mates, the staff, the management and all employees. I will also miss our passionate fans, who always give everything for the club. I wish Wolfsburg all the best and every success for the new season, which I will be following from afar.”
